My name is Clare Abbott and I am a Freelance Illustrator and Artist.
I am based in Yorkshire in the North of England, where I live in a small village between the Cities of York and Leeds.
I am interested in expressive drawing and large scale scenic painting. My illustrations often combine elements of detailed drawing with more expressive mark making.
I work predominantly in pen and pencil with coloured ink washes.
When working on large scale paintings and backdrops I like to use a combination of Acrylic and Gouache paints.
Occasionally I transfer my illustrations into Photoshop and Illustrator to add additional digital detail and effects.
Recent clients I have worked with have included,
Hull's 'Back To Ours' creative arts team, and Hull 2017 UK City of Culture, where I produced concept drawings and storyboard illustrations for a number of proposed events.
I have also completed concept and pre-production storyboard illustrations for the Inaugural Heritage Flame Ceremony at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. These illustrations were produced for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Opening Ceremony, working with Director Bradley Hemmings MBE.
